Step 1: Rinse
Warm water and mild soap after each use. Never put your knife in the dishwasher; the harsh detergents and jostling will damage the edge and handle.
Step 2: Dry
Towel dry immediately. Don't leave it wet or in the sink; even stainless steel can develop spots if left damp.
Step 3: Store
Use a knife block, magnetic strip, or blade guard. Never toss it loose in a drawer; it dulls the edge and is a safety hazard.
That's it. No special maintenance, no fussy rituals. Your Shimeru knife is designed for daily use, and with these three steps it'll stay razor-sharp for years.
Every knife comes in its own presentation box, ready to give as a gift.
Got this last week and I'm honestly shocked how good it is for the price. The blade came razor sharp out of the box, like scary sharp. I've been using it mostly for veggies and some chicken work, glides through tomatoes like butter. The handle feels nice in my hand too, not slippery at all. Definitely a big step up from the cheap set I had before.
Bought this for my wife who cooks a ton and she loves it. The damascus pattern looks really cool in person, way nicer than the pictures show. She said it cuts through onions without making her cry because it's so sharp lol. Arrived in a nice box too so that was a bonus. Only been a couple weeks but no complaints so far, great knife.
Bought this as a gift for my brother who cooks a ton and he wont shut up about it. Says its the sharpest knife hes ever owned and the balance is perfect. I got to try it when I visited and yeah, I get it. The Damascus steel pattern is really striking, looks like something way more expensive than it is. It handled an onion like it was butter and the rocking motion on the gyuto shape felt natural. He's had it for a couple weeks now and says the edge is holding up well. Probably gonna get one for myself honestly.
So I've been using this knife for about a month now and I'm honestly shocked at how good it is for the price. The damascus pattern is beautiful in person, not just some print job. Out of the box it was scary sharp - like sliced a tomato and barely felt it. I've been using it for everything from chopping veggies to slicing up some pork loin and it just glides through. The handle is sandalwood which feels nice in the hand, maybe a bit on the smaller side if you got big hands but works for me. Came in a nice box too which was a nice touch. Definitely a step up from my old Henckels.
Got this for myself after using cheap knives for years and wow what a difference. The blade is razor sharp right out of the box made slicing through tomatoes feel like cutting butter. Handles really well too the sandalwood gives it a nice grip even when my hands are a little wet. Used it on onions bell peppers and some chicken thighs and it just glides through everything. Came in a nice box too which was a bonus. Really happy with this purchase.
Solid knife overall, sharp as hell and looks amazing with that Damascus pattern. The balance is good for most tasks but I do wish the handle was a tad thicker for my bigger hands. Took a few days to get used to but now it feels natural. Used it on a big batch of veggie prep and it handled everything fine. Only real gripe is I wish they offered a 10 inch version for bigger jobs. Still definitely recommend it for the price.
Got this as a birthday present for my wife and shes pretty happy with it. It cuts through veggies like butter and the blade holds an edge way better than our old knives. My only minor thing is the handle β I wish it was a little thicker, feels a bit slim for my hand but she loves it. Still a great knife for the price, would recommend if you can deal with the handle.
So Ive been using this knife for about a month now and honestly its incredible. The first thing I noticed was how sharp it is right out of the box β like scary sharp. I used it to break down a whole chicken and it just glided through joints no problem at all. The damascus pattern is really pretty too, not gonna lie. Handle feels nice and solid, sandalwood smells amazing actually. If you cook a lot this is totally worth it.
I use this for all my prep. The flat spot near the heel is great for chopping, the curve up front is good for rocking. Does everything I need.
Great value for a damascus blade. I've used it daily for 3 weeks now and its my go-to for prep. I do wish it was maybe a 9 inch instead of 8, just a personal preference for the rocking motion. But its a solid knife, cuts beautifully and arrived super fast.
Positive first impressions. It's a bit heavier than I expected for a Japanese knife, but I actually prefer it now that I'm used to it. Cuts beautifully. Just took a meal or two to adjust.
Brilliant knife, exactly what I needed. Lovely edge on it. Makes quick work of a whole chicken.
Really nice knife overall. The steel is great and it holds an edge well. My only minor thing is the handle shape, its a little round for my grip and took a day or two to get used to. But the performance is top notch, definitely recommend it.
The blade is beautiful, the damascus pattern is really pronounced. It's sharp as heck. Arrived next day which was a bonus.
So I've been using this knife for about a month now and its just fantastic. The damascus pattern is beautiful and the sandlewood handle feels great in my hand. I use it for everything from slicing up steaks to chopping veggies for a stir fry, the edge is still razor sharp. Came in a nice box too which was a nice surprise for the price.
Solid knife. Does everything I need it to. The handle is nice but it did take a little getting used to after using western handles for so long. No big deal, just a preference thing. Cuts great.
Got this as a birthday present for my husband who loves to cook. He absolutely loves it. He says the balance is perfect and it glides through onions and tomatoes like butter. The 8 inch size is perfect for his hands. He wont stop talking about how its a huge upgrade from the old block set we had.
Iβm pleased with the performance of this knife. Itβs sharp, comfortable to use, and seems built to last. The blade is precise and handles a variety of tasks with ease, though it does require frequent sharpening to maintain its edge. The handle is well-designed and provides a secure grip, but I think it could be slightly more cushioned for better comfort during extended use. Overall, itβs a reliable knife thatβs worth the investment, even if it does need a bit of upkeep.
Iβm impressed with the quality of this knife. Itβs sharp, easy to handle, and seems like it will last for a long time.

The blade is precise and cuts through ingredients cleanly, though I noticed it does require frequent honing to stay sharp. The handle is well-designed and comfortable, though I think it could be slightly more cushioned for better comfort during extended use. Overall, itβs a high-quality knife that performs well in the kitchen, even if it does need a bit of maintenance.
This knife is a solid performer with a comfortable grip and sharp edge.
