Step 1: Rinse
Warm water and mild soap after each use. Never put your knife in the dishwasher; the harsh detergents and jostling will damage the edge and handle.
Step 2: Dry
Towel dry immediately. Don't leave it wet or in the sink; even stainless steel can develop spots if left damp.
Step 3: Store
Use a knife block, magnetic strip, or blade guard. Never toss it loose in a drawer; it dulls the edge and is a safety hazard.
That's it. No special maintenance, no fussy rituals. Your Shimeru knife is designed for daily use, and with these three steps it'll stay razor-sharp for years.
Every knife comes in its own presentation box, ready to give as a gift.
Got this knife last week and honestly its amazing. Ive been cooking more at home and wanted something that could handle everything without dulling after like two uses. The blade is so sharp right out the box I actually cut myself a little cleaning itβmy fault not the knives. Used it on tomatoes, onions, even broke down a whole chicken and it sliced through the joints like butter. The handle feels really solid too, not slippery at all. It came in a nice box which was a bonus.
So I bought this after reading a bunch of reviews and it's definitely a solid knife. The Damascus pattern is way prettier in person than I thought it would be. Cuts great, holds its edge way longer than my old set. Only thing is it's a tiny bit heavier than I expected for a gyutoβI was used to a lighter santoku so took a few days to get used to the balance. But now that I've had it for a couple weeks I actually like it, feels sturdy. Would recommend if you're okay with a little heft.
Got this for my birthday and I am so happy with it. Cut up a whole bag of onions the other day and no tears, no sticking, just clean slices. The handle feels good in my hand and the balance is perfect. I was a little worried about the price but this thing is a workhorse and looks beautiful on my knife block. Cant believe how sharp it is right out the package. Highly recommend if you want a quality Japanese knife without spending a fortune.
Honestly this knife is incredible. I've been cooking a lot more since I got it and it makes everything easier. The blade is super sharp out of the box and held its edge way longer than I thought it would. I used it to prep a bunch of veg for a big dinner and it just glided through everything, even butternut squash. It's got a nice weight to it, not too heavy but feels solid. The Damascus pattern is really pretty too, my wife keeps commenting on it. Came in a nice box as well. Big upgrade from my old Wusthof.
Got this as a birthday present for my husband who's been getting into Japanese cooking. He was stoked when he opened it. The knife is really well balanced and cuts through tomatoes like butter no squishing at all. He's used it for dicing onions and slicing beef for stir fry and says its a huge upgrade from his old knife set. The packaging was nice too came in a sturdy box. Would buy again.
Ok so Ive had this knife for about a month now and honestly its amazing. I use it pretty much every day for chopping veggies and slicing meat. The blade came razor sharp right out of the box and its stayed that way way longer than my old Wusthof. The Damascus pattern looks even better in person than online. Only thing is the handle felt a little slick at first but after a few weeks it kind of breaks in and gets grippy. Really happy with this purchase.
This is a fantastic knife for the price. The pattern is lovely and it's razor sharp. I just personally prefer a wa handle over this western style, but that's just my preference. Still performs amazingly.
Great value for a Damascus blade. Cuts incredibly well. It's a tad heavier than I expected based on the pictures, but I actually don't mind it now, gives it some authority. Definitely recommend.
Been using this daily for about a month now. Holds an edge really well, I've only had to hone it once. The 8 inch size is perfect for my hands.
Perfect balance. The handle shape fits my grip really well. Makes prepping a joy instead of a chore.
Birthday present for my wife who's a total foodie. She loves it. Says the balance is great and it's her new favorite knife in the kitchen.
Ok so this is my first real Japanese knife and I'm blown away. The damascus steel is so pretty and it's crazy sharp out of the box. I've been using it daily for 3 weeks now and it still looks and feels brand new. The rocking motion for chopping herbs is perfect. Cant believe I waited this long to get a good knife.
So I've been using this for about a month now and it's just fantastic. The damascus pattern is gorgeous and it's still razor sharp after all this time. I use it for everything from slicing up steaks to chopping veggies. The handle feels really solid in my hand. It came in a nice box too which was a nice touch.
Massive upgrade from the cheap set I had. The Damascus pattern is beautiful and it just glides through food. I actually look forward to prepping dinner now.
It's a good knife, don't get me wrong. The blade is sharp and it looks nice. But I guess I was expecting to be more impressed for the price? It's a bit lighter than I'm used to, which is fine, just takes some getting used to. It does the job, just wasn't the wow factor I thought it'd be.
I cant believe how sharp it is. Seriously, be careful. I've been using it for everything from breaking down a whole chicken to mincing garlic. Performs beautifully.
Iβm thoroughly impressed with this knife
This knife has quickly become an indispensable tool in my kitchen.
The knife was shipped promptly, and itβs even better than I imagined. Razor-sharp and well-balanced.
Iβve used a lot of knives, but this one stands out for its balance and sharpness. Itβs in a league of its own.
A reliable and well-made knife that's worth the investment.
This knife is a great all-rounder. Itβs sharp enough to handle any task, and the design is simple yet effective.
This knife has been a great tool in my kitchen. Itβs sharp, well-balanced, and makes cooking more enjoyable. The blade is great for all sorts of tasks, from slicing vegetables to cutting through meat, though it does need regular sharpening to maintain its performance. The handle is comfortable, but I think it could benefit from a slightly more ergonomic design for better long-term use. Despite these minor issues, itβs a great knife thatβs become an essential tool in my kitchen.
Cuts through everything like itβs butter
Overall, a reliable knife with good balance and sharpness. I appreciate its performance, but it requires more frequent sharpening than Iβd like.
